Ford Files for Bronco Scout Trademark in U.S.
I mean… they do look kinda similar.
We don’t want to get your hopes up, especially after Jeep’s mic-drop moment when we all realized they weren’t going to name their wrangler pick-up the Scrambler, but rather the Gladiator. We’re thinking there must be some Russell Crowe fans over at corporate. No but in all seriousness, rumors have been flying since Ford filed trademark applications for “Scout” and “Bronco Scout” in the U.S. last week.
According to the applications, both names are intended for motor vehicles. (Imagine that). Now no one really know what Ford is planning to use the name for—it could be the name of the “Baby Bronco” we saw teaser images of last winter, or it could just be a trim package on the 2020 Bronco. But as we know, just because Ford applied for a trademark doesn’t mean it will actually end up using the name on a future product.
To our disappointment, new details about the iconic comeback have yet to emerge. The latest we’ve heard is that the 2020 model will come in a 2 or 4-door option, as well as have a removable hard top—an SUV after the Wrangler’s own heart—or loyalists, you decide.
