Girls on the Run Hosts Annual Summer 5K at Mall Of America

April 9th, 2019 by

Calling all early birds, running enthusiasts, those passionate about young women in our community, and anyone with breath in their lungs!

The annual Girls on the Run 5k is happening in less than 2 months and it’s not too late to register.

On Saturday, June 1st, the Mall of America will be boarded by men, women, boys and girls of all ages.

Timeline of events:

7:30AM – same day registration

7:45AM – 5k race village and all pre-race festivities begin, girls and coaches should plan to arrive 60-90 minutes prior to their wave start time.

9:00 AM – First wave of runners start, waves will continue every 10 minutes.

Do I have to know a GOTR participant to register for the 5K?

Absolutely not. In fact, running buddies, sparkle runners, and community runners are all needed to make this race fully functional.

Running buddies include trusted adults, family members, or friends invited by a girl to run alongside her at the Girls on the Run 5k, supporting her and celebrating her accomplishment.

Sparkle runners have one job and one job only – to bring the party. They are the fun squad who will each be assigned to a team out on the course. A sparkle runner must be a female of 18 years or older and must submit a background check.

Community runners is anyone and everyone (age or gender doesn’t matter!) who would like to participate in the race on their own.

The heartbeat of Girls on the Run is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident. Their vision runs deep, creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.
